Peladang Setiu to invest RM1m next year

The Peladang Setiu Agrotourism & Resort will invest about RM1 million next year to upgrade the resort which boasts of excellent facilities for seminars, camping and other outdoor activities.

Its manager, Ahmad Sanusi Ibrahim, said the main focus of the upgrading exercise would be to increase the number of rooms.

“We will add 12 more chalets as the number of guests to the resort was growing from time to time,” he told Bernama today.

Ahmad said the resort currently had 58 chalets and the majority of the guests hailed from the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The number of tourists to the resort is estimated between 50,000 and 60,000 annually and this does not include day guests.

He also said the rooms were very affordable and cost between RM89 and RM390 per night.

Among recreational activities available at the resort include, among others, kayaking, river crossing, paddle boat, trekking, obstacle crossing and games, and a visit to a herbal farm.

Ahmad said Peladang Setiu Agrotourism & Resort was also involved in the breeding of siakap fish and cage culture of prawns in the Setiu Lagoon.

Last year, the aquaculture fish project raked in 1,139.26 tonnes of siakap fish, worth RM19.4 million, while 1,973.13 tonnes of prawns, worth RM29.60 million were harvested.
