Negri Sembilan plans new industrial park

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan will open new industrial park in the western part of the state this year to accommodate rising demand from investors.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said space at industrial parks such as Enstek and Sendayan are nearly fully occupied.

“We are looking at opening a bigger industrial park in the western part of the state.

“It should not be far from any township as we do not want workers to commute too far from their homes,” said Mohamad after the state government’s civil servant monthly assembly at Wisma Negeri, here, yesterday.

However, he did not disclose the exact location of the new industrial park but the western part of state includes townships such as Bandar Sri Sendayan and Bandar Enstek.

Mohamad said this year, the state government aims to repeat its yearly target of RM1 billion investment from the manufacturing sector.

“As of September last year, we succeeded in securing RM1.3 billion of investment for the manufacturing sector.

“This year, we are confident of repeating that success,” he said, adding that the manufacturing sector contributed to 48.3 per cent of the state gross domestic product.

He said Negri Sembilan is listed on the map for international investors by virtue of having several multinational firms investing in the state.

“We already have multinational companies from Japan, France and the United States, among others, setting up their factories here.

“These companies, in a way, act as our trade ambassadors to offer referral to other companies that wants to invest and build factories in Negri Sembilan,” he said.

Thus, Mohamad reminded civil servants in the state to continue their business-friendly policy, which include speeding up application for investor to acquire lands to build factories.
